Manual Lymphatic Drainage- A gentle massage used to guide lymph fluid away from swollen areas. The proper flow of lymph is important to a healthy immune system.
Swedish Massage- Considered the most common form of massage. Uses firm pressure to promote relaxation.
Sports Massage- Reduces pain and prevents injury in athletes. Incorporates deep tissue massage.
Deep Tissue Massage- A massage that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas, i.e. stiff neck, lower back and shoulder tightness.
Thai Massage- Stretches and loosens the body. Uses Yoga like stances as the practitioner uses his hands and feet to apply pressure.
Shiatsu/Accupressure-Traditional Japanese massage therapy in which the practitioner uses fingers(thumbs) and palms to locate and treat areas of stiffness and stress.
Reflexology-A method of working the feet, hands and ears in such a way as to access the corresponding organs, glands and systems. Applying specific pressure to these points helps to normalize organ function and produce a state of homeostasis.
Reiki- Widely known form of Energy Healing. This modality involves direct application of Chi for the purpose of strengthening the client's energy system.
Therapeutic Touch- Another form of Energy Healing whereby the therapist moves her hands over the patient's energy field, directing the flow of Chi so that the patient can heal.
Palliative Care- Any form of treatment that concentrates on reducing the severity of disease symptoms. The goal is to prevent and relieve suffering and to improve quality of life for people facing serious, complex illness.
